Agricultural Shows.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Palmerston North, last night. The weather for tho People’s Day at tho Manawatu Show broke beautifully tine, and as a result visitors have been pouring into the town from all parts of the district, special trains arriving during the morning crowded with passengers, and there is every indication that the attendance to-day will constitute a record. The judging in the various competitions is being proceeded with. The dock test in sheep fell to Mr W. C. Buchanan, Waiiarapa, and pen of live fat lambs to Mr A. H. Russell, Palmerston North. Nelson Bros.’ exhibit was over-weight. The championship iu draught stallions was won by Mr A. Fraser’s Earl Salisbury, and Mr J. J. Moore, Kai-iwi, secured the championship in draught mares.
Auckland, last night. The Auckland Agricultural Show opened to-day, and was a pronounced success. Tho weather was not altogether favorable, but promises well for to-morrow, “ People's Day,” when a record attendance is expected. The total exhibits are 1342. Tbe exhibit of blood horses is disappointing for a place like Auckland, but saddle horses and hunters show a great increase. Competition in dairy produce is not so strong as at the last two shows. The exhibits as a whole, howover, are decidedly satisfactory.
