Antarctic Expedition.
ARRIVAL OF THE DOGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. Twenty-five Canterbury sheep-breeders have offered each ten sheep or lambs towards the provisioning of the Antarctic exploring vessel Discovery, or 50 sheep in all. Dogs for the Discovery expedition arrived at Lyttelton in the Taluno this morning, ami were immediately taken over to Quail Island, where they will remain until the Discovery is about to leave for the Antarctic regions. There are twenty-three dogs altogether. They aro in chargo of Mr W. I. Wills, who is on the staff of tho expedition, and who has been attending to them all along. They are of many colors, but all of a size, standing about two feet One is a puro-bred wolf. Four aro Esquimaux dogs, and tho remainder are quarter-bred and half-bred Siberian wolves. Their long, pointed noses, sharp ears, and shapo denote the stock from which they have come, and there is generally a very wolfish look about them.
