Rats and Ants.

' KILL CHILDREN. Paris, Oct. 2. Two babies recently met horrible deaths under curious circumstances. One, a boy eight months old, was i.illod in his cradle by rats in a foundling asylum in Paris. The affair is causing intense public indignation. The director of the asylum says the like never happened beforo. The child was attacked by big rodents which invaded the asylum from a sewer broken during the night. The other victim was a girl four months old. The mother, a peasant, while busy harvesting grapes, placed the baby on the grass under a tree. Soon the child began to cry, but the vineyard workers thought it simply wanted its mother, and let it cry on, saying it would soon tire and be quiet. When picked up two hours later the child was dying from the bites of big ants. The baby died the same evening.
