There is to be revivification of the South African campaign at -an early date on a move aggressive scale. Several regiments from India relieve others at the front. General lan Hamilton is to bo the bearer to Lord Kitchener of tho King’s wishes hoping that he will terminate tho war prior to tho Coronation. Seven thousand time-expired men from India have accepted a bounty to serve in South Africa. Reservo squadrons of cavalry are being prepared, and strong drafts will bo sent to reiuforce the troops at the front. Ono Cheshire and two Worcestershire battalions of militia also go. The Daily Mail states that Kruger is willing to cede the Rand to Great Britain, and conclude peace, if the rebels are amnestied, prisoners immediately returned home, troops withdrawn, farms rebuilt, and a treaty guaranteed by Franco and Russia concluded, granting immediate and complete tuionomy under the Afrikander Hag. Sir U. A. Banuerman, speaking at Aberdeen, said that since tho restoration of Boer independence was impossible, he advocated independent self-government under British supremacy. He added that the Liberals would welcome Lord Rosebery back if he was prepared to do what was acceptable to the party. Advice has been received from South Africa that 4715 Private Paterson is ill of entoric fever at Newcastle ; 4363 Sergt.Major Callaway, who was wounded last week, has been removed to Wynburg Hospital.
