Sir Hector Macdonald

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last- night. Kir Hector Macdonald arrived by the Mararoa at noon. He was enthusiastically roccivcd by a largo assemblage, including tho representative of the Government (Kir .1. G. Ward). The local bodies, Government, and other olliees closed for a couple of hours, and the shipping was decorated. An address was presented to the General on behalf of the city, to which he made a brief reply, expressing appreciation of the exceedingly hearty reception given him hero and throughout the colony. He was then driven through chocring crowds to Government House, where he will stay while in Wellington.
