POLLARD OPERA COMPANY.

“THE GAY PARISIENXE.”

Tub Gay I’aiusiexne ” is oug of the most popular operas played by the Pollard Company, and wherever staged it generally draws a crowded house. Last evening was no exception to the rulo, and the Theatre rang with laughter from the rise to the fall of the curtain, tho large audience being delighted with the opera. The chief character, Jldle. Julio Bon I!

on, tho Gay Parisienne, was cleverly interpreted by Miss Gertie Campion, who threw herself heart and soul into the spirit of the play. Miss Campion won the hearts of all present with her singing and acting, and there was not a dull moment whilst she was on the stage. Mr W. S. Percy as M. Auguste Pompier, more than sustained the reputation that ho has obtained during the week. He gave a most artistic rendering of the part of the jealous Frenchman. Miss Mav Beatty is to be complimented on her representation of Until, a servant, and tho audience testified their appreciation of her efforts by frequent and hearty applause. Miss Maud Beatty in the character of Mrs llonevcombe appeared to g it advantage, whilst Miss Alice Pollard won high praise for her interpretation of the part of Nora. Messrs H. Quealv. D. O'Connor, and C. Albert did well in their respective parts, and tho other members of tho company were all well received. The opera was beautifully staged, and was enjoyed by all present. To-night the company bring their season to a close, when “ The Belle of New York ” will be staged, and should draw a crowded house. Tho fact that the company leave for Auckland late this evening will not in any way cause the opera to be hurried through, as the management have arranged for a number of hands to remain in Gisborne and bring the scenery, etc., on to Auckland on Wednesday by tho Moura. The company do not open in Auckland until tho Ist of November, and the scenery used this evening will not be required for a week or two.
