ANGLICAN SYNOD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. The Anglican Synod to-day, appointed Bishop Dean Fitchett, Rev. Neild, and two laymen as a deputation to wait on tho Presbyterian Assembly, to convey tho congratulations of the Anglican Community on tho consummation of the union. SIR HECTOR MACDONALD. General Sir Hector Macdonald had a most enthusiastic reception all iflong tho railway line from Invercargill, which culminated in Dunedin in the turn out of a crowd nut very far shore of that on the occasion of the Royal visit. On arrival tho was welcomed by Mayor Donniston. Ho then inspected the Highland Rifles Pipe Band, and a number of veterans, who were drawn up on tho platform. As soon as he appeared in tho open and stepped into the carriage waiting there was an outburst of hearty- cheering. In a few seconds the horses were taken v out of the carriage, and ropes were attached by tho Highland Rifles, who drew tho carriage, with the General and the Mayor, all tho way to the Fornhill Club, through dense crowds of cheering spectators, who were aole to get a good view of tho distinguished visitor. ARBITRATION COURT.

Mr R. Blater, a present member of the Arbitration Court, having consented to again serve, lias been nominated by a number of Dunedin unions. DREDGING.
