At Uiccarton this morning matters were quiet, several of the Cup candidates and others being away at Ashburton races. Ulelioglu easily beat Goldcnmcrc and Vscull over six furlongs in 1.17. V. Glenaladale and Windwhistle were extended over a mile and a-half, Glenaladule finishing in front in 2.42. Lt was a good gallop. Fuiiuen and Djiii-Djiu jumped off at the mile mill a half post and after going two furlongs were joined by Canteen. The pace then increased, and at the finish Djin-djin was leading Canteen, while Fuliiion, who did not gallop generously, was two lengths off. Djin-djin’s timo was 2.10. Fulinen had the worst o[ the weight. Dmulas skipped over six furlongs eoiiifortably|iu 1.17 1-uth, and Bombardo half a mile m .‘>l 1-Otli, Blazer was too good for Goldspur at tho end of live iurlongs, run in 1.5, and Sarehedon defeated Battlcery over four furlongs in •lOsee. Others to do useful tasks were Sumerlcd, Oannic Chicl, First Light, Calibre, Battler, Savannah, Hcmiosa, Tercelot, Golden Vein, and Dundee. The Karauiu team and Kabuwai wore out, but were not extended. Ideal looks very weil. Boreas has been scratched for the Uiccarton Welter.

Lord Rudolph beat San Fran and Grasspan over ton furlongs, the time being 2.21. Carbineer did 10 furlongs in 2.2 G. Australian Colors and Miltiados did fifteen furlongs in 3.40 V. The Betting: For tho DerbyGrasspanis in demand now at 2to 1. Hautvilliers is still favorite at t> to 4 against; 4 to 1 Ibex.
