The friends of Mr T. B. Strong will bo pleased to hear that that gentleman has been appointed assistant-master at the Wanganui District High School. Mr 11. Hill, Inspector of Schools, commenced his examination of the Gisborne school yesterday. Mr lan S. Simson, District Valuer, returned to town on Sunday from tho Waiapu County, where lie has during tho past three weeks been engaged in making a careful valuation of properties.

Mr 0. Tilliard Natuseh arrives from-. Napier to-morrow morning. Mr 11. Danvers, handicappcr, and Mr C. O’Connor, starter for tiie Poverty Bay Turf Club, arrive to-morrow.

Tho Rev. Father Cahill, formerly of Gisborne, lias been appointed to take chargeof the Soutli Wairarapa district, and will be stationed at Carterton.
