Haasbrouk, a member of the Yryburg Divisional Council, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for inviting the Boers to invade the district, Arthur J. Yogan, an Australian scout, captured Commandant Scheepers, who is recovering. Major Holmes captured Commandants Davies and Maris at lveivlei on the Ist instant. A small commando appearing at- Saldantia Bay, the residents boarded a passing steamer and signalled a gunboat, which shelled and dispersed the Boers.
