RHODES-SCHNADHORST CORRESPONDENCE.
LIBERAL LEADER EXONERATED
By Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright London, Oct. RJ. The Spectator publishes the RhodesSclmadhor.st correspondence relative to the subscription of JKOOU by Mr Rhodes to the Iliberal party’s funds. Mr Rhodes desired Home Rule, with representatives at Westminster, and the retention of Egypt. He was horrified with .Mr MorIcy’s scuttle speech, and was subsequently disturbed by Mr Gladstone foreshadowing the withdrawal from. Egypt. If his (Mr Rhodes’) wish On were not met, he desired the money should he given to charity. I here is no indication in the correspondence that Schnadhorst acquainted Mr Gladstone of Mr Rhodes’ wishes, but lie calmed Mr Rhodes' anxiety by stating that Rosebery's police as Foreign Secret tar.y would be very different from that of Granville’s pliant suppleness. The newspapers blame Schnadhorst’s duplicity, and exonerate Libera! leaders of bargainin'' with Mr Rhodes.
