PARLIAMENTARY.
Legislative Council(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Tiie Council met at d.JU p.m. The Mortgages of Land Bill passed its linal stages. The Arbitration and Conciliation Amendment Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Labor Bills Committee. The Money-lenders' Bill was read a second time on the voices. House of Representatives. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The -Joint stock Committee recoin- i mended that the Land and Live Stoea Auctions Bill he not further proceeded with, and that copies of it be sent to the various Agricultural Societies lor their opinion, with a view to it being brought up again next session. It was resolved that copies of the Bill be also sent to the various branches of the Farmers’ C niuns, and that tnc recommendations of the Committee he agreed to. The House then went into Committee of supply fur further consideration of the Estimates. The vote for Customs and Marine Departments was under discussion the whole afternoon. Mr l'uwlds moved that the iota! vote be reduced by Tl as an instruction to the ( j overniiioiit tiifit all the olliccrs over the stipulated term of service and age should be retired. This was lost on the voices. The House rose at 5.0 U. EVENING SITTING. 1
The House resumed at 7MU. Votes for Customs and Marine Departments and Stamp and Heeds Department were passed without alteration, alter eonsiderable discussion.
