The Titties’ Simula correspondent states that the late Ameer’s sou llobidullah will presumably succeed quietly, as for sonio time he has been invested with large administrative powers by his father.
A GREAT SUFFERER FROM GOUT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright C'abttl, Oet. 8. The Ameer suffered trout gout. He was taken ill on September 28tli, and was warned that his illness was dangerous. Oil October 2nd Girdur Hobadullali, tho eldest son, asked for the prayers of tho faithful for the recovery of iiis father. Hobadullali informed Great Britain’s native agent that the Ameer died at three o’clock on the morning of the third.
RUSSIA AND AFGHANISTAN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Oct. 8. Newspapers arc agreed as to the gravity of the inopportuneness of the Ameer’s death, and emphasise that it is necessary to hind the compact of 1875, whereby Russia recognised that Afghanistan was outside the sphere of Russia’s inilucnce ; also that Russia had frequently admitted that it was entirely inside tho sphere of the British supremacy.
