Commandant of the Forces.

GENERAL BABINGTON RECOMMENDED. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The Premier is advised that the War Office approves of the position of Commandant of the Forces of New Zealand being offered to Major-General Babington, who has been Assistant Adjutant-General of the Imperial Yeomanry since 1900. and commanded the Ist Cavalry Brigade at the commencement of the present war. The Premier believes there is every likelihood of General Babington accepting the appointment.
