THE WESTINBHOUSE BRAKE,

A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AVERTED. [Special to Times.| Wellington, last night. The nature of the Wcstinghouse brake, now being applied to the railways of the colony, was shown in Wellington on Saturday. A horse attached to au express jibbed while being driven over ono of the crossings along the water front. The train was just then approaching the crossing, but the driver of the engine noticed the dangerous position of the horse and the express, and was able by means of the new brake to bring his locomotive to a standstill less than a foot away from the jibber.
