Scientific Temperance Instruction.

[by telegraph—tress association.] Wellington, last night. As representing the New Zealand Alliance and Good Templars, the Rev. F. W. Isitt, accompanied by Hon. HallJones, interviewed the Minister for Education to-night, and presented petitions, signed by nine thousand persons, and addressed to the Governor, asking for the introduction of scientific temperance instruction in the State school.

Mr Hogben (Under- Secretary for Education) raised a point as to the inaccuracy of this instruction, and this led to some discussion. Finally the Minister promised that- the petitions would-be presented to His Excellency in due course, and that department would consider the point raised by the deputation.
