WRECK OF A SCHOONER.

CREW LAND SAFELY IX BOAT.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night. The Taviuni from Fiji brought intelligence of the wreck of the schooner Eastward Ho, owned by Mr Khalit, of Levuka, on Sunday, September '2'2na. The weather was squally and dark, and the schooner was making way on the sea side of the Horse Shoe Beef, when she was suddenly in breakers, and settled down in them, making water heavily. Capt. Bysantson was compelled to leave her, and with the crew proceeded in a boat to Mataka, where they remained until the following morning. The Eastward Ho was loaded with 11,000 feet of vesi logs and sawn timber. There were no insurances on either ship or cargo. The wreck was sold for .Ci 4, but broke up, her destruction being probably hastened by the pounding of logs against the sides of the schooner.
