THE RETURNED BOWLERS.

RESENT AUSTRALIAN ASPERSION,

(Special to Times.)

Wellington, last night. , The local howlers feel somewhat strongly, the unfriendly sentiment conveyed in a cablegram from Sydney, charging the New Zealand section of tho Australasian team whic-h visited England with being the cause of disaffection, which resulted in the split between them and Australia, and, as in comparison with the Australian players, the fact of their competency has been questioned, it may be pointed out that during their stay in Australia, while on the way to England, the Now Zealanders actually beat the Australian on their own grounds. Here are tho figures : Sydney Club, 80, New Zealand, 58; Balmain Club, 57, Now Zealand, 74 ; Manly Club, '46, New Zea- ! land, 60 ; totals, New South Wales 170. I New Zealand 192. In Melbourne, New Zealand beat M.C.C. Club easily by 68 to--21. In the English trip, where they were pitted against some of the best dabs of the world, Now Zealand won six matches: out cf 17 played. One of the members of the team, Mr J. N. Dingle, of Auckland, carried off the County Sports Cup, at tho competition organised by the London County Club, in competition with sonic 150 players, and the play of the team has been generally commended.
