The Exportation of Arms Bill and Promissory Oaths Bill passed the final stages. House of Representatives. The House met at 2.50 p.m. The Acting - Speaker said that the vacancy on Hansard stall would not be permanently tilled this session. A Bill to make provision for reimbursements of certain expenses incurred by Government in connection with the Koyai visit, was introduced and read a first time. Air Seddon said.thu- money (£2250) had been expended by the Governor on behalf of the colony, and to prevent acrimonious discussion ori the Estimates, the Government had decided to bring down a Bili for payment of the money, and strike the item off the Estimates. The Bill would be reserved for the lioyal assent. The House then went into Committee of Supply for the further consideration of the Estimates. The item “ Grant to Governor in reimbursement of expenses incurred by him in connection with the Koval visit (X22uo),'’ was struck out.

The House rose at O.i JO. EVENING SITTING. The House met at 7.30 pan. The items of expenses connected with the Royal visit were further discussed. A motion to omit the item ''Grant to Ministers and Secretaries in reimbursement of expenses, X35U,” was lost by ltd to I'd. At the item of .£'20,000 for massing troops fur the Christchurch review, Mr i’iruni moved the reduction by X 5 as indicating the disapproval of tiie House at the arrangements made by the Government in connection with the review and massing troops and the non-payment of troops. The motion was lost by -IS to IS. Proposals to reduce other items were rejected by large majorities.
