PERSONAL.

Mr W, Cooper left Gisborne last night on a visit to Wellington. Mr W. J. Quigley, architect, left for Napier last night on business.

Mr H. H. Wall left for Napier last evening to attend the Anglican Synod as representative of the Turanga Church. Whilst riding from Tuparoa to Awanui, Mr Lincoln Rees had the misfortune to meet with a slight accident. His horse slipped on the rocks, and falling with him, injured his leg. Mr Bees was attended by Dr Davis, of Waipiro, and may go on by the Omapere to Auckland, returning home oil Sunday. Mr W. Simpson, of Nelson, who wont in charge of the horses on the last trip of the steamer Cornwall to South Africa, had the misfortune to have one of his legs broken about ten days before tho end of the voyage, and was compelled to go into the hospital at Durban. The assistant organiser of the New Zealand 1 armors’ Union, Mr Oscar Fisher, is expected to arrive in Gisborne about Show time to organise a branch of the Union in this district.

Mr and Mrs W. King returned from the South yesterday morning. Mr W. F. Crawford returned to Gisborne from tho Old Country yesterday afternoon, and was warmly welcomed byold friends,

Messrs G, T. 1 lull and P. Keiha left for Auckland yesterday morning ;o take part in the golf championship mooting, which commences on Tuesday next. A branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union has been formed at Tiniroto with the following executive : —Messrs Lissant Clayton (Chairman). H. E. Kent (treasurer), L. Spence (auditor), W. Sutherland, and P. Richardson.

Mr William Edgar Geil, of Philadelphia, was a passenger from the island.-; to Auckland by the Manap,ouri on Saturday. Mr Geil it, on a four years’ tour round the world under commission from the American Boat'd of Missions, to inquire into mission work, and after visiting the various centres in New Zealand proceeds on to China.
