Supposed Fire Signal.

The captain of tho American barque James Eviston reports that ho saw a volcanic eruption on Curtz Island, about 23 miles off Wilson’s Promontory. The general opinion is that what the captain saw was a lire caused by shipwrecked sailors endeavoring to attract attention. The Government Astronomer states that the volcanic theory is feasible.
