A. AND P. SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee of the A. and I’. Society was held on Saturday afternoon. Present : Messrs Jas. Macfarlano (President), Mason (Secretary), Sberratt, AVatson, Smith, Dewing, Gray, AVhite, Barker, Dobbic, Tomblcson, and A. F. Kennedy. For the forthcoming Show, Mr McLean, Maraekakahe, was appointed judge of sheep, and Mr J. N. Williams of cattle and horses. The manager of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company wrote, offering, on behalf of McDougall Bros., 10 gallons of sheep dip for class S7.—Allocated to class S 7. Air AV. A. O'ARTtra offered a special prize of £o 3s.—Allocated to class 71. Air AY. Hunter, Palmerston North, wrote .vith reference to forming" a branch of the Fanners' Union in this district. The Chairman favored the proposal, but said it was for the meeting to decide whether the Society should start the movement. He bad some diffidence about calling a meeting, and thought it might be done privately. The Hawke's Bay farmers intended to hold a meeting about their Show time (October 12) to form a branch. As these branches were being formed all over the colony, Gisborne should not be left out in the cold. After discussion, it was decided that the Society call a meeting to form a branch the Saturday before the Show, at 11 a.m. A letter was received from the Agricultural Department with reference to the outbreak of anthrax at Opotild (previously published). The following new members were elected :—A. F. McLean, D. Todd, .T. D. Cameron, W. Graham.

It was resolved that the Programme Committee revise the schedule before the programme is drawn up. A class for two-year-olds was added to the draught section for fillies and geldings, the prizes being—First, £'2 ; second, £1 (presented by Dalgety and Co.). Mr Gray's special of £2 2s was allocated to class 5.
