THE WOOL SALES.

The Bank of Englan 1 returns are : Stock of gold coin and bullion X 37,303,000 ; reserve, X'27,886,000 ; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 5319 ; in circulation, X'29,595,000 ; public deposit, X'l 1,071,000 ; other deposits, X'40,550,000 ; Government securities, XT6,G83,000 ; other securities, X'20,167,000. Three months' hills are discounted Ht 2 .7.10 per cent.
Consols arc 95 j. Victorian threc-hulfs, 100 ; Western Australian three-halfs, 103 ; New Zealand threes, 97 other stocks unchanged.
The wheat market is steady, hut a hardening tendency. The latest estimate of the British crop is 50 million bushels. Cargoes arc quiet. Victorian, alloat, 29s 3d ; South Australian, September shipments, 295.
The sugar market is weak. German, 7h 7id ; first marks, 9s 10.'<1.
The tin market is quiet. Spot, Xll-4 10s ; three months, XT 15. Big iron, 54s 3d ; lead, A'l2.
Silver, 2s 2 15-Bid per ounce
The Bradford wool is very firm. Common sixties, 111,M ; super, 20[d. The London sales of all classes showed spirited competition. L’rices are unchanged. The Omaravm clip sohl at 9{d, and Katandra at 15,|d.
