Montgomery’s Company.
To-jiorrow night this popular combination will commence a four nights’ season at the Theatre Royal. Mr Montgomery last year ’visited all the centres of the world in search of novelties for exhibition in New Zealand. On his travels he saw a machine called the “Bioscope," which threw pictures 26 feet wide and with absolutely no flicker. He at once negotiated, and now ha 3 the only one in the colony in good working order. He also arranged with tho leading makers of films in America and England, and now receives monthly consignments of new films. Among the number to be shown 13 “Army Life; or How Soldiers are Made.” These are the finest military scene 3 produced, and were taken with a view to popularise the service. The Royal naval series are a revelation in marine photography. As a sensational and historical spectacle “Joan of Are ” takes first place. The film is over 1000 feet long, and takes 20 minutes to show. Over 500 people were engaged in the production, and it portrays the life, triumph, and tragic end oi the Maid of Orleans. Others equally good are “ The Famous Football Dog,” ”Railway Collision,” “Magic Artist,” “Diving Horses,” and the best collection of magic and fun yet shown. The Company wish the public to understand that they produce everything that is advertised, and do not come under any false representation. Besides the films, Mr Montgomery brings with him an excellent concert company—Mr Montgomery in illustrated songs; Peter Eade, in his popular sketches; and the big favorite throughout New Zealand in Mr Harry Hall, who is one of the best comedians in the colony. We expect to see bumper houses during this Company’s season.
