Sacerdotal Breeches.

(To the Editor of the Times.) 3ik,— “ Vox ” is under some confusion of mind : evidently he cannot distinguish between “ divine principle ” and his own interpretation of it. When and how did he become a lawful and exponent of “ divine principle ? ” NN hen did he ever receive a divine principle except through the agency of human authority ? St. Paul, a very human man, was. during his lifetime, a human autho-_ rity. He was the vehicle, if you will, of divine principle, and like all vehicles he was liable to go wrong. Christ Himself took human form in order to convey, by human means, to humanity the divine principle. Abolish human authority, and I “ Vox ” might as well have been bom a Choctaw Indian for all the divine principle he would have. He uses his own human authority to declare that my letter was profane and a denial of the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. I fear, Sir, your space would not be adequate to allow a full discussion of the question of inspiration, much as I would like to enter upon it. From “ Vox's ” own narrow application of the term “ inspiration ” I certainly do dissent. He would put a limit to the Infinite. He is profane when lie says, “ Thus far God spake and no further.” The profanity of the narrow-minded was one of the 'evils that Christ preached against, apparently in vain.—l am, etc., Hopeful.
