AVliilo the Marquis of Anglesy was at a theatre, .£2,500 worth of His Lordship’s jewellery was stolen from the AVolsinghani Hotel, Piccadilly. Paris, Sept. 12. Tho Porte aud Lubin, a French bankor, have arranged to settle tho bankers’ dispute on the basis of the payment of ■£154,000, if France consents. Sydney, Sept. 13. The electric tram system was dislocated owing to a sudden increase of prossure at Ultimo power house. There was a sudden crashing noise, and a blinding flash of light. The switch-board was destroyed. Flames spread to the roof, but tho lire was quickly extinguished. All trains within a radius of seven miles wore stopped. Steam motors will he utilised to-day until repairs are executed. Brisbane, Sept. 13. During a debate in committee, Mr Kerr, a Labor member, expressed a hope that they would get a bettor Chairman next time. He refused to withdraw tho remark, and was suspended for 24 hours. Tile Executive have extended the prohibition against the importation of New Zealand swine for six months.
