ISLAND MISSIONS.

SPECIAL ,SESSION OF ANGLICAN SYNOD.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night.

The special session of the Anglican Synod was held to-day, the purpose being that the trustees of the Porirun Collcgo endowment might receive from the Synod further directions for utilising and protecting the estate, in accordance with the terms of the trust. The Primate presided. In his address he stated that ho had received a letter from the Bishop of Loudon, in which the latter states it to be the opinion of the Archbishop of Canterbury and himself that it would be best to nand over to the Church in New Zealand tho islands in the Pacific now considered to be under the control of the Bishop of London, lie would lay the whole matter before the ordinary Synod, but in the meantime would refer it for consideration to a special committee to frame some scheme. The Primate also mentioned that the Bishop of Wellington would leavo next week on a visit to Fiji.
