(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. The Waiau stabbing case came before tho Magistrate’s Court at Rangiora today, when Nathaniel Heron was charged with having unlawfully wounded William Niven. The accused was remanded until Saturday. Mr William Vincent Brewer, who arrived in Canterbury in 1851, died to-day, aged 70.

The case in connection with the death of a man who fell down some steps in a hotel “ dive ” a short time ago was before the Court to-day, J. L. Earl, trie licensee of the Empire Hotel, being charged with permitting drunkenness on his premises and selling liquor to a person already in a state of intoxication. The case was adj lurned till Friday.
