A Question of Duty

Trouble has arisen between the Harbor Trust and Gas Companies owing to the trust imposing a duty of sixpence per ton on coal. The Australian Gaslight Company refused to pay, on the ground that the trust was exceeding its powers under the Act, and threatened to stop the gas supply. When the trust refused to allow them to land coal, the company then obtained an injunction preventing interference till Tuesday, when the case will be argued.
COINING CASES.
YOUTHS FOUND NOT GUILTY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, last night. At the Supreme Court yesterday the two youths connected with the previously heard coining case, were found not guilty of passing base half-crowns which they said they had made.
