Auckland, last night. The City Council has decided that tenders be invited for paving Queen street, the work to he done in wood, stone, or asphalt. Fiji news reports the finding at Hau Point of a galvauised-iron case containing three torpedo tubes. The contents are certainly valuable, and are not likely to have been discarded by any ship. It is believed that the case is of foreign manufacture. It has evidently drifted from the vicinity of Torres Straits.

Invercargill, last night. In the indecent assault cases at the Supreme Court, .John Hobson Hall, aged 68, was sentenced to three years ; W. J. Biehmond, aged 50, got six months ; and a youth named Frederick Jarvis was released on six months’ probation.
