THE HUIA PROTEST.
The usual weekly meeting of the P.B.R.U. was held last evening, when there were present : Messrs Miller (in the chair), McCredie, Caulton, Nutting, Hawkins, Maude, Eaton, and A. AV. Adair (Hon. Sec.) Several players were added
to the lists of various clubs, and passed. The Secretary brought forward the balance-sheet of the late Ball, which showed a credit of X's 8s 4d. The Chairman, in moving its adoption, referred to
the excellent work done by the Secretary, and the Union passed a hearty vote of thanks to that gentleman. The protest lodged by the Huia F.C. against awarding last Saturday’s match to the AVest End F.C., on the ground that the latter club played a player contrary to rule No. 43, was then discussed. After considerable
discussion and argument, Mr Maude pro posed, and .Air McCredie seconded : “ Thai
the matter be referred to the N.Z. Union.” Air Nutting moved, as an amendment, and Mr Hawkins seconded: “That the Union does not see its way to disturb the result of the match.” The amendment was put to the meeting, and lost ; and the original proposition, upon being put, was declared carried. The protest, together with the facts, will in due course be referred to the N.Z. Union. Messrs Miller, Eaton, and Alaude were appointed a sub-committee to draw up the case, and report to the Union at its next meeting.

the following : Symes, Te Reinga, Leah, Baker, Ball (2), AlcCrcdic, Caulton (dipt.), Taylor, Harris, Sharp (2), Sherratt, McGrath, AVitters, Hatea, Ngawini, Cookery, and Swann.
