Sir Joseph Ward moved the adjournment of the House as a mark of respect to the memory of the lato Hon. Jas. Kerr. It had always been his aim to do his best for liis fellow men, and it would be some consolation to the members of his family to know that he left behind him a quiet, dignified personality which would be remembered by his colleagues. Mr James Allen seconded the motion, ! sa yhig the Legislative Council had sustained a severe loss in the death of Mr Kerr. Mr Fisher said Mr Kerr £ had always been known as an upright, honest, sterling man. The motion was carried unanimously in silence, and the House adjourned till 10.30 to-morrow.
