By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Aug. 25. Further particulars of the capture of i'Haasbock - •• laager at Doorubcrg last week | show that Colonel Barker’s column almost i encircled the Boors during the night, and j at dawn opened a heavy fusillade with big guns and rifles.
For ten minutes the wildest consternation reigned amongst the enemy. The capture included a mass of official correspondence. Civil Surgeons Peter Randall and W. Fitzpatrick, of the New Zealand forces, are convalescent, and have resumed work. In order to complete the projected Home establishment of 65,000 Imperial Yeomanry, 10,000 recruits are still needed. Mr Brodriek has appointed a Committeo to select the best districts for recruiting. Brussels, Aug. 25.
The Belgian Socialists desired a universal labor strike as a protest against the war in South Africa. British Socialists sent a discouraging answorto the proposal, and the movement collapsed.

A SHARP FIGHT.
WILLIAMS' COLUMN ESCAPED SCATIILESS.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Aug. 26. A detachment of the Tenth llussavs hud a sharp tight with Schceper’s commando south of Uniondale. ’The British had four killed and eleven wounded. Commandant Yandermero and FieldCornet Uuplessis wore amongst the llocr wounded.
The Standard’s Pretoria correspondent reports Colonel Williams’ column escaped seathless in connection with the capture of the convoy near Klorksdorp The prisoners include Miss Steyn, the FxPresident’s niece, and Commandant Dolarey’s mother.
