INSTITUTE OF JOURNALISTS

At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Journalists, held today, it was decided that the headquarters of the Institute for the year should be at Dunedin. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr M. Cohen, Dunedin ; Vice-Presidents, MessrsOresley Lukin (Wellington), Triggs (Christchurch), and A. Roid (Auckland); general secretary, Mr E. Hine (Dunedin): treasurer, Mr T. Walker (Dunedin) ; auditor, Air J. Hutchinson (Dunedin). A resolution was passed in favor of the Institute formulating some scheme by which a benefit fund might bo established. It was also resolved that it is necessary to the welfare, if not to the very existence of the Institute, if it is to be of real value to the working journalists of the colony not being employers, that steps be at once taken to procure registration under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act.
