Legislative Council
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night,
Tiie Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Shops and Offices Bill was considered in committee, but no material amendments were made. The Public Petitions Committee reported that it had no recommendation to make on the petition of the Napier Women’s Christian Temperance Union, asking the repeal of the C.D. Act.
House of RepresentativesThe Ilou-e met at 2.40 p.m. The greater part of the afternoon was occupied in discussing the report of the Public Accounts Committee in regard to live cases between the Audit Office and Treasury Department under Section 1 of the Public lie venues Act, 1900. The debate was interrupted by the 5.30 adjournment.
EVENING SITTING. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. The debate on the Public Accounts Committee’s report was continued, and eventually a motion that the report lie on the table was agreed to. Mr Seddun announced that he proposed to-morrow to put through an Imprest Supply Bill, and then to begin the Financial debate at 7.30. Mr Seddon moved that the amendments made in committee in the Govern- j ment Advances to Settlers Extension Bill ! be agreed to. The debate was proceeding j when the telegraph office closed.
