In the Ricardo-Observer libel case, Captain Dove gave evidence that he heard Chanvel urging Ricardo to obey orders and advance, and the latter replied : “ No fear, we are safe here.” Others gave evidence that at- Vet River Ricardo, when ordered to advance, replied : “ I am quite willing to do so, but it will be Colonel Pilcher’s fault if I am killed.
