HOTEL BURNED DOWN.

Christchurch, last night,

On Saturday afternoon, while Mr J. Fox, proprietor of the Zetland Arms Hotel, and most of his family were away at the races, the building took fire, in a linen closet upstairs, and the whole place was gutted, and most of the furniture and stock was burned. The building was the property of Messrs Fletcher, Humphreys, and Co., and was insured for £675, equally divided in the Imperial and Northern British ; £IOOO on the stock and furniture in the Imperial—half reinsured. The Zetland Arms was one of the oldest wooden hotels, and had been ordered to ne rebuilt at the last annual meeting of ! the licensing committee. i
