Lamb, prime Canterbury, fair average, including Dunedin, Southland, Wellington, and secondary Canterbury, 41d, New Zealand beef, 1301 b to 2201 b, fair average quality, ox fores, 2 l-16d; ox hinds, unchanged. Eiver Plate crossbred or merino w-ethers, 2ja. The hemp market is steady for good Wellington, July-August shipment. Silver is at 2s 2^d.
Wellington, last night. The Agent-General’s cablegram, dated London 10th, states; —The average prices to-day are—Canterbury mutton, 34d ; Dunedin and Southland, 31d ; North Island, 3|d; Eiver Plate, 3d. Market quiet. There is endeavor amongst some holders to raise the prices of mutton. New Zealand lamb, Canterbury, 4Jd, other brands than Canterbury There is a scarcity of prime lamb. The market is over-supplied with heavy carcases. New Zealand beef, hind-quarters 3}d, fores 2|d. The market is dull. Supplies of Eiver Plate beef are increasing. The hemp market is very firm. Good fair Wellington, spot, is at j 626, and September-October £23 10s. New Zealand cocksfoot, 171 b standard, 395, market quiet. The butter market is rising.
