OUR LABOR LAWS.
AEGUS SAYS MR SEDDON HAS HIS EAB TO THE GROUND. THE FABMEBS’ CAUSE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, August 10, The Argus says that the American description of a wideawake politician that he “ hqs his ear to the ground,” may be well applied to Mr Seddon’s declaration that the people of New Zealand had had enough labor restrictions. What may have moved him is the possibility of a revolt of the country districts against a system which threatens, if pushed too far, to impose heavy burdens on them. While the producers have generally approved of the efforts to abate sweating, they may not be enthusiastic in enforcing by law wages which they cannot possibly pay to labor themselves.
