AUCKLAND SPECIAL.
THE GRAND OPERA. (Special to Times.) Auckland, last night.
The Zealandia’s departure for Gisborne this week lias been delayed until after midnight to-morrow evening. It sails after tho performance of Musgrovc’s grand opera performance. The vessel conveys the company, numbering about one hundred, to Napier, playing in that piaeo “ Faust,” for one night, in evening dress only. A POPULAR NURSE. Nurse Phillips, late of the Gisborne Hospital, has now definitely severed her connection with that institution, and the popular nurse is back at her old home. A ROUGH TRIP. The s.s. Elingamite, which left Gisborne on Saturday morning, did not make port until 8 o’clock last night, having been 331 hours on tho passage. Upon tho arrival of the steamer the night was so stormy, the wind blowing hard from tho south-west, with heavy rain squalls, that Captain Wyllio decided to anchor in the stream lor the night. After leaving Gisborne tlie Elingamite met with very bad weather. The wind increasod to a strong gale from the south-west, with heavy rain squalls and high seas, which greatly interfered with her progress, tho gale continuing all the way to Auckland. FOOTBALL. In Auckland the Grafton Football Club have now practically won the senior champion Cup for this season.
