ATTEMPT TO REDUCE CHAMBERLAIN'S SALARY.

The Daily Nows, referring to the previous day’s proceedings in Parliament, says the front Opposition benches were empty, and the party, deserted and enfeebled, has reaebod the last stage of humiliation. In the llouss of Commons, a motion tabled by Mr Hobhouse, member for East Bristol, for a reduction of Mr Chamberlain's salary, withdrawn by the mover, was put at the instance of Mr J. • Dillon, and negatived by 154 against 70.
