The Duke’s Farewell.

Melbourne, Aug. 1. Lord Hopetoun received a farewell letter from the Duke aud Duchess of York on tho eve of their departure from Fremantle. The Duke states: “Wo shall over remember the memorable and stirring days which wo witnessed in Australia at the new political birth. Wo wish to express our warmest thanks for the kindness received.” He speaks highly of tho cadet movement, in which he thinks lies a strong power for good, and ho was also struck with the educational advantages provided for children. They took leave of the colonies with many regrets. Tho Commonwealth aud the people would ever have a warm place in their hearts.
