(To the Editor of Times.) Sir, —“New Chum” is evidently a red hot Tory agitator who has more monoy or bank credit than brains. He ought to go into harness with the cad who called the volunteers curs. The working men of this country have had the advantage of education, and they know that intelligence should have a place in the ruling q-f the country’s affairs. Workmen are no longer serfs to be dominated over by any harebrained puppet who happens tohaye come into cash accumulated by the toil of others. It is true there are somo fads in the air, but the fortunate thing is that in practice they pan out right. “ New Chum ” is glib at abuse, but he has not pointed out a single ease of failure. The men at the head of affairs may not have aristocratic lineage, but they have brains, which “ New Chum ” appears to lack. Mr E. Lowndes is one too many for him when it comes to facts. If “ New Chum ” does'npt like jihe country he should leave, and go where his class may'be'appreciated; —I am, etc., Democrat.
