Mr Do Lough left for Wellington last night, there being a large number of friends to bid him farewell. Mr Gold-Smith, the District Dand Commissioner, leaves for Nuhaka to-morrow

pion, in November.” Mr H. Carr Cooper, of the Government Accident Department, has arrived in Gisborne, and is staying at the Albion Club. He will be pleased to give, personally or by post, information as to rates, etc. Among tho many wreaths sent as a tribute of respect to the memory of Mrs Black, whose body was buried at Napier last week, were wreaths from Mrs Alf. Wade, Miss Gush, and Master Wreford Wade, of Gisborne.

Mr Smith, with a boring plant, will arrive in Gisborne next month for the purpose of commencing oil prospecting operations.

Constable Crawford, who formed one of the Duke of'York’s bodyguard during his tour through the colony, returned to Gisborne on Saturdav.

IBro. 11. J. Williams, Grand Superintendent of Wellington district, and editor of The Craftsman, is likely to come to Gisborne to preside at the annual installation ceremony of Abcrcorn Lodge. Mr Hart, Collector of Customs at Timaru, is about to retire on a pension. Trooper Allan Aislabie, of Brabant’s Horse, came to Australia in tho steamer Damascus, and returned to Gisborne on Saturday. Mr N. Hooper, of Messrs Common, Shelton and Co.’s staff, left for Nelson by [ the steamer last night, and returns to Gisborne a month bonce. Next month his many friends will have the pleasure of congratulating him on.a now epoch in his lifetime. Prier to his .departure- ho was entertained at a Complimentary supper bybachelor friends, and there wero many present at the wharf last night to extend him their hearty good wishes.
