ACCIDENT.

TO MR It. SHERRATT. A very painful accident happened yesterday to Mr E. Sherratt. Word came to town by telephone to the residence of Mr J. Stewart, who sent the word on, for medical assistance. Dr Hughes went out, leaving town shortly before 4 p.m., and returning to town at midnight. Mr Sherratt was thrown by his horse, which rolled on him, and struck him on the back, causing concussion of the spine, besides very painful bruises. Howeyer, Dr Hughes informs tta that though the accident is serious, he is confident that’ Mr Sherratt will recover from the effects -of it. Mr Cyril White drove to tho scene of the accident, and conveyed the patient to Wairakaia, where he is now lying and receiving every attention. Dr Hughes makes a journey out again to-day. The road is in a shocking state, and for many miles the horses cannot bn taken out of a j walk, so that travelling to and fro ig very tedious. The many friends of Mr Sherratt will sincerely hope that the next bulletin will report a good improvement in his condition. It will naturally go harder with him than with a younger man, but that will to some extent be made up for by bis courage and resolution.
