The ’Frisco mail reaches Gisborne this afternoon. The hounds meet at the Taruhcru Freezing Works at 2 this afternoon. Tenders close at three this afternoon for drain works on Hall and Clifford streets, Whataupoko. A meeting of subscribers to the Biair fund is convened for this evening, at the Natives’ Association rooms. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday a prohibition order was granted against I>■ Jamieson, of Morere. Messrs Feckover and Co. have several choice properties at Morere and Xuhaka for sale, particulars of which will be seen by .advertisement. For the convenience of those going to the races to-morrow Messrs Allen Bios, will have lunch in readiness at the City Buffet from 10 a.in. There is a good demand for milking ; cows at the present time, and in our ad- j vertising columns will be found an opportunity for those requiring first-class milch cows.

The question of technical education was discussed by the Gisborne School Committee last evening, and a sub-committee was appointed to obtain information and report to a future meeting. The Committee will endeavor to establish dressmaking and cookery classes for the girls and carpentery clo.sscs for the boys, at an early date. At 11 o’clock this morning Messrs Wyllic and Mason will dispose of a choice assortment of fruit trees, shrubs, and flowering plants. The sale is held under instructions from Messrs Bull and Son, whose nursery is a credit to the district, and in which a splendid assortment of trees, shrubs, and flowering plants are pro- , dueed. The present bids fair to be an ex-1 ceptionally good season for planting, and j there should be a large attendance at the I sale.

Messrs Clayton Bros, have a special advertisement in this issue to which the attention of our readers is directed. The arm have during the past four weeks rejeived close on two hundred thousand ! eetof timber, and they are in an excellent josi.tion to execute orders in the direction )i supplying material to those about to mild. All descriptions of timber can be ibtained at the mills in Gladstone road, vhere largo stocks are always on hand.
