A BAD RECORD. [By Telegraph—Pres3 Association.] Invercargill, last night. At tho Police Court to-day, William Rhind Grigor Hay pleaded guilty to setting fire to a house in Orepuki in Maylast, with the object of securing the insurance of .£7O on the furniture, a considerable portion of which had been removed. He pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering the Mataura Post Oflico six years ago, removing tho safe, and stealing therefrom money, stamps, and other valuables. He was sent to the Supreme Court for senteneo. SNOW. The snow has all disappeared from this locality, but tho weather is cold. RETURNING SOLDIERS. A start has been made to decorate for tho reception of the Contingent. Communications point to a considerable influx of visitors, billeting being offered for 473 troopers to date.
