Mr Barton has informed the House that the New Hebrides’ question is under the kindly and favorable consideration of the Imperial Government. He was not at liberty to say more, owing to the confidential nature of the negotiations. Keplying to a query by a member, Mr Barton stated that he had requested the Imperial Government to hold a consultation with Australia before arriving at any determination in respect to the Pacific Islands.
