NAPIER PARK RACING CLUB.
Bv Telegraph—Press Association, Napier, last night. The weather was bitterly cold for the second day of the i’ark races. The attendance was fair. The racing was good. A slight shower fell just before the start of the first race, but the weather then cleared and remained fine for the remainder of the afternoon. The sunt of £4,709 was invested on the totalisators, malting a grand total of £10,090 for the two days. The following are the results : Second Hack Hurdles.—Rodara, 10.8, 1 ; Waterport, 11.1, 2 ; Taheke, 9.12, 3. All started. Won easily. Time, 2.57 2-5. Div., £2 6s. Steeplechase, of 150 sovs., 2* miles. —Scallywag, 10.6, 1 ; Kauri Gum, 9.13, 2 ; Stanley, 9.7, 3. Also started : Evening Wonder 10.4, Opaku 10.1. Opaku fell. Time, 5.35. Div., £4 3s. Winter Oats.—Tigress, 9.12, 1 ; Daphne, 10.0, 2 ; liags, 9.3, 3. Scratched : Jadoo, Derringcotte, Lady’s Link. Also started : Ruamahunga 11.0, Rubin 10.5, Whitirea 10.4, Gipsy Queen 10.2, Woodthorpe 10.0, Mongonui 9.7, Robin Adair 9.7, Kissmary 9.4, St. Just 9.3, Mystify 9.0. Won by three lengths. Time, 1.33 2-5. Div^ £18. Second Hurdles. —Social Pest 1, Duller 2, Hautonga 3. Sylvanus also started. Time, 4. 0 3-5. Div., £2 2s. Hunters’ Hurdles. —Jester, 10.0, 1 ; Nectar, 10.2, 2 ; Mangatera, 10.3, 3. Scratched : Ilokowhetu. Won easily. Time, 3.52 1-5. Div., £3 4s. Farewell Steeplechase.—Waitio 1, Coastguard 2. Scratched : Scallywag and Opaku. Waitio and Coastguard were the only two to finish. Time, smin. Dividend, £1 7s. Ncwstcad Hack Handicap, 45sovs, i furlongs.—Govt, 10.8, Davis, 1 ; Tirca, 12.0, 2 ; General Wolfe, 9.7, 3. This was a great race, and was only won by a nose, a head separating the second and third. Time, 1.30. Div. £1 17s. The Park Steeplechase was won all the way by Scallywag, ridden by Mitchell. The Second Hurdles was won easily by a length by Social Pest. The Hunters’ Hurdles was won anyhow by a dozen lengths by .Tester, ridden by Arnott. The Farewell Handicap was won comfortably by Waitio, ridden by Noble, by five lengths. Noble rode the winner of the Hack Hurdles, Sweoncy rode the winner of the Winter Oats, and Clarke rode the winner of the Second Hurdles.
