A YOUNG MAN’S AWFUL CON FESSION. OUTRAGE AND MURDER. THE INQUEST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Kaiapoi, last night. The adjourned inquest in connection with the Eyrcton murder was resumed at Kaiapoi this morning. Mr Bishop, S.M., is the Coroner, and Mr Stringer Crown prosecutor. The inquest has again been adjourned till the Magisterial investigation is held. Alexander Stewart McLean was charged with murder. G. McLure produced a locality plan and plan of the house. THE DISCOVERY. Clothier deposed that on the 25th he broke in by the window of the kitchen and found Miss Martin dead on the floor in a pool of blood. Ho sent for the police. He knew accused as Mrs Martin's general farm hand. For two months accused had slept in the house upstairs. Constable Simpson deposed that ho reached the houso at 9 p.m. and broke in the door. He found Mrs Martin’s dead body on the floor of the bedroom. It had several large cuts on the head. In the kitchen ho found the dead body of Miss Martin on the floor. The head was hacked about, showing large cuts. Tho forefinger of the right hand was cut clean off. On returning to Mrs Martin's bedroom he found tho child Laurence Martin also dead with two largo wounds on tho head. Everything was ransacked in all the rooms. The pocket of Miss Martin's dress was turned inside out. Ho found a letter addressed to accused from Victoria, which was not read.
